Paste a list, choose how many winners, draw. Each draw comes with a receipt anyone can re-check.
Drawing several winners at once
Set “How many winners” and press Draw. The winners come out in the order they were drawn, which settles first, second and third place in one go. With repeats off, which is the default, a line that has been drawn is out of the running for the rest of that draw.
Tick “The same entry can win more than once” for draws where each pick starts from the full list, such as choosing who answers each of five questions.
How the draw is made
The page takes a 256-bit seed from crypto.getRandomValues and stretches it with SHA-256 into as many random numbers as the draw needs. For each winner it picks one of the remaining positions with equal odds and sets that position aside. This is the Fisher–Yates method, stopped after the number of winners you asked for.
A number that would make some positions slightly more likely than others is discarded and replaced by the next one. That step, called rejection sampling, is what removes modulo bias.
Tickets and duplicates
Each line is one ticket. If a list pasted from a form has the same person twice, they hold two tickets. “Remove repeats” keeps the first spelling of each name, ignoring upper and lower case and accents, so “José” and “jose” count as one.
Prefer to watch it happen? The wheel of names runs the same draw one winner at a time. To split everyone into groups instead, use the team generator.
